🍊 The Story Behind Pomelo

Welcome to Pomelo

My name is Çağla, and I come from Izmir — a vibrant city in the heart of the Aegean.

Every destination I offer today is one I have personally explored. I have taken the time to wander its streets, taste its flavors, and speak with the people who live there.

Because for me, a journey always begins with a meeting.

The desire to explore and travel has always been a part of me. But what excites me the most is the human connection — the shared stories, the genuine glances.

The name Pomelo comes from a very personal memory: as a child, every Saturday I would go to the market with my grandmother. I eagerly awaited that moment to choose my favorite fruit — the pomelo.

But what I loved even more was the warmth of the market, the spontaneous exchanges, and the smiles between the stalls.

Thanks to her, I learned from a young age to approach people, to listen, and to create connections.

Life later brought me to France, where I have now been living for more than five years.

My grandmother stayed in Izmir. She is no longer with us, but in her own way, she still accompanies me.

The values she passed on to me — kindness, curiosity, authenticity — are at the heart of Pomelo.

A few months after I arrived in France, I met my partner.

At the time, I didn’t speak French yet, and he didn’t speak Turkish.

But little by little, each on our own path, we learned to understand each other.

He introduced me to his country, in his own way.

And many times, we traveled together to visit mine.

On each trip, I would show him a new place: another city, another Greek island, another side of this region I love so much.

And that’s when I realized something essential:

To create a bond, you don’t need to speak the same language or come from the same culture.

What matters is the desire.

The desire to discover, to open up, to meet.

Today, with Pomelo, we want to invite others to live this too:

To meet the people who make a place truly rich, to travel differently — sincerely, slowly.

We don’t offer fixed tours, but experiences built with people we know — locals, artisans, restaurateurs, passionate guides.

Together, we imagine warm, human, and unique journeys.
